Guide to GCSE Business Studies & Economics (Nuffield Edexcel)
We will study Business, how businesses are set-up and run, objectives of businesses and the nature of the markets in which they operate, methods of raising finance, marketing and management of employees.
Business is studied in the wider context of the UK Economy and the EU and in relation to the ethical responsibility of businesses towards the environment.
Students will be expected to work individually and in groups. You will conduct investigations and research. Much of the course is delivered through the study of up-to-date case study material which sets out written information about a business and then demands that you think about problems and suggest possible solutions.
You will have the opportunity to use, to develop and to apply your ICT skills throughout the course.
There are four pieces of coursework, each of 1,000 words which contribute 20% of the total examination marks. Two externally assessed examination papers of 1hr 15 minutes each contribute the final 80%.
