Student facilitiesThe LibraryThese images are of the old library, currently being converted into new Science accommodation. Pictures of the new Student Study Centre will be posted when it is completed in the next stage of development. The Library is open from 9am until 4pm Monday to Friday. There are three librarians, Mrs Stevens, Mrs Sumner and Miss Bailey who share the hours. They are helped by volunteer librarians from several year groups in the school. As well as Sixth Formers making use of the quiet working atmosphere and Year Seven, who have Library lessons as part of their timetable, any pupil can visit the Library. The Library is a popular lunchtime venue for homework or browsing. Groups also visit from lessons to research a topic. It is a resource for work and leisure with over nine thousand non-fiction books and more than four thousand fiction books in addition to language videos and cassettes, encyclopaedias and CDs. There is computer access to the school network and the Internet. Magazines related to many subjects are available for study while daily newspapers are to be found in the informal area. |
