About our school
Information and Communication Technology
The school has five fully equipped computer rooms, four on the Main Site and one in the Isaac Newton Building. In addition there are two mini-suites on the Main Site and many other subject areas house computers. The Library too contains a number of computers.
Internet & E-mail Access
Almost all the computers in the school are on the school network and therefore have filtered Internet access, together with access to a wide range of subject specific software, in addition to popular packages such as the Microsoft Office Suite.
|
|
Students have access to the computer rooms before and after school, in addition to break and lunchtime. Students use of the Internet and e-mail is carefully monitored.
Computers are used as a classroom tool in all subjects and Information & Communication Technology (ICT) is taught as a discrete subject to all students from Year 7 to Year 11 inclusive. All Year 11 pupils are entered for a public examination in ICT.
|
Technology Suite
The Isaac Newton computer room is located in the Technology suite and is equipped with appropriate software to enable students to use design, graphics, technical drawing and desktop publishing programs to present their work to a professionally high standard.
We aim to ensure that every student is sufficiently competent in all areas of ICT, including word processing, the use of databases and spreadsheets, data logging, image scanning, multimedia displays and the Internet, so that they may put these skills to good use throughout their studies and in later life.
