Guide to GCSE History (OCR)
The course followed by students is the OCR Modern World History Syllabus B (1937). The topics covered on the course are:
- International Relations 1919 - c1939 } Paper 1 exam topic
- USA 1919 – 1941 } Paper 1 exam topic
- Germany 1919 - 1945 } coursework topic
- Russia 1905 - 1941 } coursework topic
- Changes in British Society 1906 – 1918. Paper 2 exam topic
The historical skills developed and assessed by the course include:
- The ability to recall, select, organise and deploy knowledge
- The ability to describe, analyse and explain:
- the events, changes and issues studied
- the key features and characteristics of the periods, people, societies or situation studied
The ability to:
- comprehend, analyse and evaluate representation and interpretation of the events, people and issues studied
- comprehend, interpret, evaluate and use a range of sources of information of different types.
The final grade is based on an examination (75%) and two pieces of coursework (total 25%).
